Of the very few things that make my life meaningful, I would count Football as one.
I cherish the sweet times of NIT Jalandhar- second year when we had night football tournaments.
Just imagine of a scene, clock striking 11 in the night, darkness everywhere, a lush green ground lit with flood lights, neatly marked football ground (White & Green), and the crowd waiting for the match to begin.
The feeling itself can turn anyone on !!
It is the Semi-Final today , an important match for us. More importantly, we were playing against the best teams of NITJ, The Blues.
The Blues had a terrifying record of 100% "Wins" ..
The match begun and as expected , possession of ball was like 20:80 between us and the Blues..
It was towards the end now and we were losing at 0-1 .
We got a chance.
This time,I carried the ball from the center-half , passed on to Aditya , the center-forward.
Aditya dribbled excellently, exceptional he was in this and passed on back to me. I realised that it was only the goal-keeper between me and the goal post. It was an important and the only moment to equal the lead ...If I could do this, our team would be credited as the first team equalling the best club of NITJ. My mind was flooded with all these thoughts.
"Shoot kar !! " shouted Aditya, before it was too late... But the moment I got the ball, I realized I was on the wrong ....I was surprised as the refree did not declare it an Off-side. He didnt blow the whistle..I was confused .....And within a fraction of second I knew that I was f***** late..
I have messed it up..
The goalie stood as a China Wall , my leg got strangled with his and Bhhooooom...... That was it !!!.... I was left with the taste of mud, the sweet smell of dew drops over lush green grass, the whistle of the refree, the cheer of the opponent supporters... We had lost !!!! Anyways lets start with the basics
I usually play as a Right forward ...Trust me, if you are not confident on your left foot, this is the only position where you should play(or else there is no other place for you :P) ...Its easy as you receive the ball with your left leg and then you have the space available on your right to bang the ball.
At SP, We had some great guys in the team, Arjun , the center forward and the Great Wall of China..., the chinkii Souma Kanti Paul. We were a perfect cover for each other's weakness ...
Arjun : An exceptional dribbler
SoumaKantiPaul : A faultless Defender
And me : A merciless hard hitter
Every evening, no-matter what, the three of us were found rubbing our studds in the firm fields of Bhawan's campus.
Basically, we are cool guys but the moment got down to grounds we were just WILD...When in different teams, we never thought twice to push, punch, kick, shout, abuse and even hit each other.. .Probably this was our passion, our religion that unified us !
The moment you realize that the ball has touched the correct part of your toes, you can be assured that its unstoppable. That's the beauty of this game .... Its a way of achieving ecstasy....
We defined the following rules of Football.....
1. if it moves, kick it.
2. If it doesn't move....... kick everything & anything until it does.
And we followed it trully.
Its long now that I have wore my studds, and the thought troubles me ; I look forward to join a Football club here in Bangalore ASAP!!
Any Suggestions ?

I remember seeing people playing/practicing football in one of the small fields in Kormangala. If you walk from NGV towards Forum , its the first field towards your left. Those guys may know about clubs as they were always "dressed" up while playing.
